The CONEXIS Elite Benefit Card

The Easy Way to Pay

The CONEXIS Elite Visa® Benefit Card makes using your HSA a snap. Your card gives you instant access to your HSA funds to pay for eligible expenses.

Activate Your Card

When you open your HSA, we will send you a benefit card in the mail, so be sure to activate your card before using it for the first time. Just call the number on the attached sticker and then follow the prompts. You will be ready to go in just minutes.

If you already have a CONEXIS Benefit Card, you can use it to access your HSA funds as well.

Swipe and Go

It’s really that simple! You can use your card at most health care-related merchants and providers that accept Visa. Common card purchases include:

  • Deductibles, co-insurance, and co-pays
  • Medical checkups, hospital stays, and other health care services
  • Vision exams, contact lenses, and eyeglasses
  • Dental cleanings, X-rays, and orthodontia
  • Chiropractic and acupuncture services
  • Prescription drugs
  • Over-the-counter (OTC) health care-related items

Over-the-counter Medicines

Special IRS rules apply to OTC medicines, which require a written or electronic doctor’s prescription to be an eligible HSA expense. You may use your card to pay for an OTC medicine if you purchase the medicine from a merchant that uses an Inventory Information Approval System (IIAS). These IIAS merchants include pharmacies, discount stores, and grocery stores.

It’s easy to use your CONEXIS Benefit Card to purchase OTC medicines only if you present a doctor’s prescription for an OTC medicine to a pharmacist. The pharmacist will then dispense the medicine just like a traditional prescription and assign an Rx number. If you cannot give the pharmacist an OTC prescription before paying for the OTC medicine, you will need to pay for the medicine out of your pocket and then reimburse yourself from your HSA.

Save Your Receipts

While you don’t have to submit claims, please be sure to keep all of your itemized receipts and other supporting documentation, like prescriptions for OTC medicines. If audited by the IRS, you’ll need to prove that your HSA funds were used to pay for eligible medical expenses.

Other Ways to Pay

There are other ways to pay a health care provider directly from your account and reimburse yourself for eligible out-of-pocket expenses. Just visit our HSA Participant Guidelines page for more details.
